A Blessing’s Journey is the first of many heartwarming adventures following Blessing as she discovers new places, new friends, and meaningful lessons along the way.

Joy and Blessing
Joymeka Matteos is an educator, author, and creator of A Blessing’s Journey. With a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Urban Civic Education, Joymeka’s work with children inspired her to create stories that encourage kindness, compassion, and purpose. Through Blessing’s adventures, she hopes to pour something positive into young hearts and remind children that they, too, have the ability to be a blessing wherever they go.
Meet The Real-Life Blessing:
Blessing isn’t just the star of the story—she’s a real little pup with a big personality! Gentle, timid, playful, and always keeping an eye on everything around her, Blessing inspired the heart behind A Blessing’s Journey. Her sweet spirit and the joy she brings to those around her helped turn one little pup into a character with a much bigger purpose.
From My Classroom to Yours...
As an educator myself, I know some of the most meaningful lessons don't always come from a worksheet or a textbook. Sometimes, they begin with a story, a question, or a conversation that gives our students the space to think about who they are and how they show up for others.
A Blessing's Journey was created with those moments in mind. My hope is that educators can use Blessing's story as a starting point for conversations about kindness, empathy, helping others, community, self-reflection, and the impact our choices can have on those around us.
Whether it's a morning meeting, classroom read-aloud, SEL lesson, writing activity, or simply a meaningful conversation, Blessing's journey is meant to continue long after the last page is turned.
